Instagram limits what a business can send and when. DM Flow enforces these limits for you, so a reply is never refused or flagged.

24 hours to reply

You can message someone for 24 hours after their last message. Every new message from them restarts the clock.

One private reply per comment

A comment allows one private reply, sent within 7 days. A comment alone does not open the 24-hour window.

No cold messages

A business can only message people who wrote first or commented. DM Flow never sends to anyone else.

Is Instagram DM automation allowed?

Yes, when it runs on Instagram’s official messaging API, which DM Flow uses. Instagram sets the limits: you can reply to people who wrote to you or commented, but you cannot send cold messages. DM Flow checks these limits before every message, so it never sends one Instagram would refuse.

Which Instagram accounts work with DM Flow?

Instagram Business and Creator accounts. Personal accounts cannot use Instagram’s messaging API. You can switch a personal account to a Creator or Business account for free in the Instagram app.

How fast does DM Flow reply?

Usually within a few seconds. Instagram tells DM Flow about a new comment or message right away, DM Flow matches your keywords, and the reply goes out through the official API.

Can I reply to someone after 24 hours?

Not with a normal message. Instagram allows business messages only for 24 hours after the person’s last message. DM Flow shows the time left on every conversation, so you can answer in time. Read how the 24-hour window works.
